Cognitive Stimulation
Therapy
Cognitive stimulation therapy (CST) uses activities and exercises to help people with dementia improve their thinking, concentration, communication, and memory. Sessions often include conversations about daily interests, past experiences, and current events. CST can be done one-on-one or in groups.
CST is usually recommended for people with mild to moderate dementia, not for those in the later stages.

Keeping Minds Active, Connected and Engaged
At Care Herts, we support cognitive wellbeing so people can live well.
Our Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) activities support memory, thinking, communication, creativity and social connection through enjoyable, meaningful activities.
Reminiscing activities invite people to share memories, experiences and stories from their lives. Using familiar photographs, music, objects and topics can encourage conversation, support self-expression and help people connect with others.
Evidence shows that cognitive stimulation can benefit cognition, communication, social interaction and quality of life for people living with mild to moderate dementia. (UCL)
Our Managing Director, Randika, has undertaken specialist CST training with Professor Aimee Spector, a leading figure behind the development and research of Cognitive Stimulation Therapy at University College London. Randika is also trained as a Neurolinguistic Practitioner and Brain Health Coach, bringing professional care experience together with an interest in brain health, communication and cognitive wellbeing.

Our approach
Care Herts provides Cognitive Stimulation Therapy sessions both individually and within community sessions. Each session is adapted to the person’s interests, abilities and life experiences, creating opportunities for participation, conversation and connection.
For us, it is not simply about completing a session. It is about creating meaningful moments, bringing memories to life and helping people feel valued and connected.
Available to the wider community
Our Cognitive Stimulation Therapy and cognitive stimulation sessions are not limited to Care Herts clients.
Families, community groups, organisations and individuals can contact us to find out more or arrange a session with us.
